SIG 5 Perspectives on Speech Science and Orofacial Disorders, October 2015, Vol. 25, 53. doi:10.1044/ssod25.2.53
This issue of Special Interest Group (SIG) 5's Perspectives will be our last one published under the existing title of Speech Science and Orofacial Disorders as we transition all future issues to Craniofacial and Velopharyngeal Disorders. While this issue includes a blend of both speech science and craniofacial topics, future issues will focus on cleft palate and related craniofacial conditions, resonance disorders, velopharyngeal disorders, and related interdisciplinary topics. We promise to keep a heavy emphasis on the “science” of our departing “speech science” nomenclature, and hope that you will all continue to read both SIG 5's Perspectives as well as the new SIG 19, Perspectives on Speech Science launching in August 2016, under the leadership of Richard Andreatta. With this change, we are seeking new Editorial Board (EB) members for SIG 5's Perspectives, which involves serving as a peer reviewer for manuscripts among other ad hoc responsibilities. If you have peer review experience in the area of craniofacial/velopharyngeal disorders and are interested in potentially serving on our 2016 EB, please email me directly at adriane.baylis@nationwidechildrens.org and include a copy of your CV. With the change in SIG 5, we have also appointed a new Associate Editor, Dennis Ruscello, who will begin in 2016. Please join me in thanking James Dembowski for all of his editorial assistance as the associate editor for our 2014–2015 issues.
