I want to acknowledge Drs. Tony Seikel and Norm Lass for their contributions to the current issue of Perspectives. Both authors have extensive research and teaching experience and graciously accepted my invitation to summarize course offerings in the speech and hearing sciences. They provide some excellent examples of speech and hearing sciences curricula. Course work in the speech and hearing sciences is critical in building a foundation for students. Our speech and hearing scientists play an important role in the development of clinicians through their teaching and research endeavors. I also want to acknowledge the work of Ms. Jessica Fair, Ms. Kerri Hartleben, and Ms. Lisa Pettigrew, who are currently enrolled in graduate studies at West Virginia University. They present summary information regarding syndromes, which may present with children and adult patients seen by practitioners.
