The development of the clinical database was first highlighted in this newsletter during it infancy (October 1994, 4:1). The ACPA database is now available to members of the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (ACPA) at no charge! We are announcing it in this newsletter since so many affiliates are also members of the ACPA and Division 5 affiliates have contributed to its conception, development, and fruition.
The database requires the relational database program FileMaker Pro 3.0 (about $200.00), which ACPA does not provide. Many ACPA members have seen the ACPA database demonstrated at the San Diego (1986) and New Orleans (1997) annual meetings. The two committee chairs and their committees before us initiated the development of the database and directed its early development. Dozens of teams have participated in the beta testing and contributed input to make it work better. Before I introduce you to the ACPA database, let me tell you why it was developed.
